Chua began his political career at the young age of 25 when he ran for a seat as City Councilor in the Sangguniang Panglungsod (local legislative body) of Cavite City in 2010.
In 2013, he ran for reelection for another three-year term (2013-2016); and garnered the highest number of votes in the history of local elections in the city.
As City Councilor, he headed the Committee for the Urban Poor Sector, and started projects alleviating their living and health conditions by providing clean water supply for some 196 households with the “Chua-ter Patubig” Program, a free water connection program in cooperation of Maynilad Water Services, Inc., among others.
He then decided to seek higher position as City Vice Mayor and was elected for two consecutive terms (2016-2019 and 2019-2022).
He ran as City Mayor, for a three-year term (2022-2026) under the Lakas-CMD Party during the May 2022 National and Local elections. He won the mayoralty post garnering more than 31 thousand votes over his opponent.
